FED: Heroin addicts need treatment on demand experts
A United States drug statistician says Australia will fail in the war against drugs unless
it provides immediate treatment for addicts.
Dr JANE MAXWELL, a former Australian National Drug Strategy research fellow, says the drugs
debate is being polarised between calls for a heroin trials and the need for law enforcement.
But she says people are missing the much larger and more important point that Australia
needs immediate treatment for an addict who seeks it -- not just a waiting list.
