FED: Profits fall while earnings remain strong

Official figures show Australian company profits have fallen by 0.8 per cent in the three
months to June.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics says profits before income tax fell by 0.8 per cent to
$7.3 billion in the June quarter but were 17.5 per cent higher than the same quarter last
year.

Another ABS survey released today found that full-time adult total earnings rose by one per
cent in the three months to May, while all employees' total earnings were up 1.3 per cent,
seasonally adjusted.
